New Jersey Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NJ NSGP)
Funding Structure:
New Jersey has two separate grant programs - one for target hardening and one for security personnel. The target hardening grant is for up to $100,000 per organization and the security personnel grant is for up to $20,000 per organization. Organizations can apply for both programs but they can only be awarded one state grant per year.
Eligibility:
Eligible nonprofit organizations based in New Jersey.
Eligible Use of Funds:
Funding can be used for a variety of security-related activities and physical security enhancements. This includes, but is not limited to:
Security equipment and systems, such as surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
Physical barriers and reinforcement, including perimeter fencing, bollards, and door/window hardening.
Generators.
Portable radios.
Dual Eligibility for federal NSGP and NJ NSGP:
Organizations have the opportunity to apply for both the National Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) and the New Jersey Nonprofit Security Grant Program concurrently. This allows eligible nonprofits to potentially receive funding from both programs, enhancing their ability to implement comprehensive security measures. NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness shall assign a preference for eligible applicants that have not received either a federal or State security grant in the last two grant cycles for target hardening equipment measures.
